As per the preliminary information available, it is suspected that the fire started in the godown of the unit while the drums containing solvents caught fire and exploded one after another. Seven fire tenders, including two from the Dundigal Airforce Academy, rushed to the factory who brought the blaze under control in the next few hours.
“There is no human loss or injury to anyone. No one was there in the unit at the time of the incident,” the official said. Meanwhile, the videos of the fumes and thick plumes of smoke coming out recorded from resident living kilometres away were making rounds on social media.
This accident comes hours after a major fire blast in the Srisailam hydroelectric plant which claimed nine people dead including a woman. It can be noted that there have been a series of fires reported in the two Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over the last few weeks.
