In a massive fire accident that broke out at Fashion Street market in Pune last night, over 500 shops were completely gutted while several residents reported power cuts in parts of the Camp area. By the time the press and fire brigade reached the spot, the entire fashion street was burnt down due to the sudden fire.
Around 16 fire tenders and two water tankers were rushed to Fashion Street and the flames were brought under control after hours of untiring efforts by the fire department personnel. Eye witnesses claimed that the fire brigade had a tough time reaching the spot due to the congestion of the road leading to the market.
While the cause of the fire is yet to be known, no reports on injuries or casualties were reported so far. According to the local traders, there were 448 registered shops and over 200 unauthorised outlets located in the market which are left in ashes.
