120 bags of human hair which is estimated of value around Rs 2 crores seized at the Myanmar border without any valid documents have set ripples in Andhra political circles.
As the hair was speculated to have come from the Balaji temple at Tirupati, the local security officials confronted that many such consignments are being shipped illegally from many pilgrimage sites, Tirumala in specific. Reports also have it that the hair would have been taken to Thailand and eventually to China.
Taking cue of the development, TDP, the main opposition blamed the ruling YSRCP leaders for the illegal trafficking of human hair to foreign countries. The issue also welcomed sharp criticism on social media while many questioned the involvement of TTD board members.
Breaking the silence over the issue, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Tuesday clarified that the human hair seized on the borders of Mizoram-Myanmar has nothing to do with TTD. In an official stament that came as a shock to many, TTD dusted off their hands claiming that they have nothing to do with the human hair that will be sold on e-platform every three months.
However, TTD assured that they would blacklist the names of companies if they are known to be smuggling the hair without valid documents.
