Meera Chopra, while the name is less familiar to Telugu audience, the character she played in Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Bangaram’ movie will be remembered. Though the actress shifted the base to Bollywood long back, her recent interaction on Twitter ended her up as an unexpected subject of abuse while a few sent her rape threats.
Into details, in an interaction on Twitter under hashtag #AskMeera, when Meera was asked about Jr NTR, not only did the actress openly stated that she didn’t know Tarak but has lauded Superstar Mahesh Babu. Seems like the statements didn’t go well with Tarak’s fans who incessantly trolled the actress which worsened with fans resorting to rape threats.
@hydcitypolice @CyberCrimeshyd i would like to report all these accounts. They are talking abt gang banging, are abusive and death threatning. Unfortunately they are all @tarak9999 fanclubs. @Twitter i would request you to look into it and suspend these accounts. pic.twitter.com/7bBEz2fZHh

Meanwhile, playback singer Chinmayi Sripada came out in support of Meera on the issue. She asked the actor to submit the abusive screenshots and write a letter to The National Commission for Women (NCW) and Twitter to initiate action against the abusive trolls. After which the actress made a collage of screenshots requesting the Hyderabad cyber crime police to take action.
This kickstarted a fan war on social media targeting Tarak and Mahesh Babu while the fans directly involved the star’s family members. However, she’s not alone in the battle. As soon as the activity on Twitter started, Meera also garnered tremendous support from the social media community. In fact, #wesupportmeerachopra was trending on number one on Twitter Wednesday morning.
