With the support from the main allies and various student and welfare associations, MK Stalin-led Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) held a protest rally against CAA which turned to be a massive success. Stalin led the rally alongside Congress leader P Chidambaram and MDMK’s Vaiko who walked with placards against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Thousands of supporters and fans turned up at the rally hitting back the Modi-Led government’s move. With the call from their leaders, DMK cadres from all party districts in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet reached to Chennai from the early hours of Monday amidst the tight security lined up.
Protestors raised slogans condemning the Centre and AIADMK government with placards. Upon the orders from the HC, the Chennai police have made necessary arrangement to avoid onward incidents. Though the local political party was denied permission to hold the rally by the state police, the High Court cleared the ways with certain restrictions like drones for surveillance and taking responsibility if violence breaks out.
