Hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi set ripples with his cryptic message of quitting social media, the BJP’s big wig put an end to the speculations with another tweet on Tuesday. With Modi’s recent tweet that he is contemplating over quitting social media, many of his ardent fans and followers rolled up their sleeves to take the same path while #IWillAlsoLeaveTwitter trended.
Meanwhile, Modi who has been enjoying 53.3 million followers, cleared the air stating that he would hand over his social media accounts to women whose life, work inspire the people around them. Asking the netizens to share the stories of inspiring women with hashtag #SheInspiresUs, Modi stated that he took up the campaign ignite and motivate millions across the globe.
“This Women’s Day, I will give away my social media accounts to women whose life & work inspire us. This will help them ignite motivation in millions. Are you such a woman or do you know such inspiring women? Share such stories using #SheInspiresUs,” read his tweet. However, not all women who post the stories will get a chance to take over the account. Modi’s social media team will reportedly go through all the stories and only selected entries will get a chance.
Known to be one of the most followed global leaders with over 35 million followers. He has 44.7 million followers on Facebook, and 4.51 million followers on Youtube, Modi’s cryptic message gained traction on Monday while a few of fans urged him to take back his decision.
