Dismissing the supplementary petitions filed seeking notification for the ZPTC and MPTC elections, Andhra Pradesh has given a sensational verdict which came as a shock to the Jagan-led state government.
Stating that it would not be able to give such directions to the SEC for early completion of the polls, the court directed the SEC to file counter-petitions.
While the court has adjourned the next hearing to March 30, the state government has to conduct the elections before the end of March i.e, before the SEC will retire.
To recall, a petition has been filed in the High Court alleging that SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is not conducting elections for MPTC, ZPTC.
The petition also urged the court to order SEC to give notification for elections and declare non-conduct of elections as unconstitutional and illegal.
