In the wake of Coronavirus outbreak which raised alarm in India with two new positive cases, Modi on Wednesday announced that he would not participate in any events on Holi which fell next week. Taking to his official Twitter account which enjoys over 53.4 million followers, Modi recalled the advice of the medical experts to avoid mass gatherings where chances of COVID-19’s spread is more.
“Experts across the world have advised reducing mass gatherings to avoid the spread of COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus. Hence, this year I have decided not to participate in any Holi Milan programme,” read his tweet. Modi also shared the preventive measures to be followed to stay safe from the dreadful viral infection.
As per the Union Health Ministry’s reports on Tuesday, six positive cases have been in India. The tech giants like Google, Facebook and Twitter as well called off the crucial summits and conferences with the number of affected cases with the novel virus is increasing with each passing day.
