As the world continues to suffer from the pandemic which so far claimed 87,882 lives across the world, an outbreak of another disease sparked a wave of concern in China, the country which is already under the radar over Corona genesis.
Tensions prevailed high among the Chinese health authorities with a new outbreak called Brucellosis spreading across north-east China. The bacterial disease which is speculated to have been caused by a leak at a biopharmaceutical company last year has already infected over 3,000 people.
Symptoms of the disease include fever, sweats, malaise, anorexia, headache and muscle pain. While some signs and symptoms can last for long periods of time, others may never go away.
These include recurrent fevers, arthritis, swelling of the testicles and scrotum area, swelling of the heart, neurologic symptoms, chronic fatigue, depression and swelling of the liver or spleen.
According to the health officials in Lanzhou, there are 3,245 people who have contracted Brucellosis and another 1,401 people also tested as an early positive for the disease. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported so far.
While health experts claim human-to-human transmission is extremely rare, the provincial and municipal officials launched an investigation into the leak at the factory which is being held for the recent outbreak. In February, the factory issued a public apology and said it had “severely punished” eight people who were determined as responsible for the incident.
