The National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Central and State Governments regarding the Kaleswaram project. The notices ordered the state government to study the impact of floods in the Kaleswaram area and to submit the report within 8 weeks. The NHRC issued notices in response to the complaint registered over heavy floods to the region due to the project.
As per the complaint registered, 30,000 to 40,000 acres of crops were damaged due to the Kaleswaram backwaters. The reports also explained how the farmers had committed suicide due to crop loss. The National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Central and State Governments seeking details.
