With a roll of petitions from across the nations and the Delhi government sending the recommendation to reject the mercy petition filed by one of the convicts, President Ram Nath Kovind has finally rejected the mercy plea. Making the ways clear for the most-awaited execution, sources revealed that the Ministry of Home Affairs has started necessary arrangements in Buxar central jail for the execution on December 16. It was reported that directives were issued to the jail superintendent Vijay Kumar Arora three days ago to prepare ten hanging ropes and clear the areas at gallows. The jail superintendent also stated that respective messages were sent to the doctors and other jail administration for necessary arrangements. In the wake of Vinay Sharma, one of the five convicts taking back his mercy plea and the President’s call to do away with mercy petition in cases involving sexual assaults, the jail authorities making the arrangements sent signals to the media that everything is set for the execution though an official statement is not made.
