Anushka’s recent film ’Nishabdham’ which got an inevitable OTT released with the unexpected lockdown has been doing a decent job on Amazon Prime despite drawing negative reviews from the critics. However, the team was seen extensively promoting the suspense thriller which also stars Madhavan, Anjali and Shalini Pandey.
While the film continued to stream on one of the biggest OTT platforms, the film team was shocked with the news that a local Hyderabad channel was telecasting the movie without the satellite rights. With a decision to give a whopping shock to the local channel authorities, ’Nishabdham’ makers sued the channel which was forced to pay Rs 1.1 crore as damages.
Minutes after which, Amazon Prime as well stepped in sued the channel with additional Rs 30 Lakh apart from the damages to be paid for the makers. Director Hemanth Madhukar confirmed the news via Twitter demanding the local channels to be more aware of digital and satellite rights of the films.
It can be recalled that recent Telugu OTT releases ‘Uma Maheswara Ugra Rupasya’ and ‘V’ as well faced the issue with a few local channels telecasting the pirated version.
