Dassehra and Diwali season is the happening one of the year for Telugu people and it not anymore in Telangana. With the indefinite strike called by the TSRTC employees, agitations and discontent gloomed the houses of almost 50,000 employees with no salaries for the month. There are even a couple of suicides out of the pressure to clear the bank EMIs. Amidst this chaos, it is now Singareni workers’ turn whose festive mode was fizzled out by the Telangana government.
It is from 30 years that Singareni authorities are paying the bonus to their employees in the month of Diwali but this time the authorities stated that there would be no bonuses in the name of losses. The authorities said that they have a debt of Rs 7,000 crores with Electricity companies and now disbursing bonus for almost 50,000 employees would need another Rs 300 crores. They rounded off that the organisation is running in losses out of which they couldn’t afford bonuses. This drew flak from the workers and employees with festivals around the corner.
