Citizens of North Korea have been banned from laughing for 10 days. While the news is breaking the internet loose, netizens were left in shock after knowing the reason. The country is entering a mourning period from Friday, marking the 10th death anniversary of former leader Kim Jong-il, who ruled the country from 1994 to 2011. He was succeeded by present leader Kim Jong Un.
Any violation of the ban during the 10-day mourning period will invite serious consequences, the citizen said. Another source claimed that the police imposed a similar mandate at the beginning of the month to ensure an “appropriate mood” for the mourning period.
A similar ban is on wearing skinny jeans, sporting mullet hairstyles, and piercing to avoid western influence on youth.
