NTR Ghat, the memorial built in the name of late legendary actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao every year witnesses a wave of fan crowd on May 28th, on the occasion of NTR’s birth anniversary. Film actors and politicians queue up at the Ghat paying tributes offering garland and prayers.
However, this year’s anniversary owing to the lockdown rules and protocol, the ghat didn’t have much celebrity attention. While NTR’s sons Bala Krishna and Ramakrishna managed to pay tributes at the ghat, many were seen absent including Telugu Desam Party chief Chandrababu Naidu, young heroes Tarak and Kayan Ram.
Meanwhile, social media went rife guess game of why Taran, an ardent worshipper of his grandfather stated that he would not visit NTR Ghat on NTR’s birth anniversary. The sensible decision was learnt to be taken by the NTR brothers foreseeing the chances of the place getting overcrowded.
Jr NTR’s PR, Mahesh S Koneru tweeted, “In the interest of public safety, NTR & Kalyan Ram will not be visiting the NTR Ghat tomorrow. They will be offering their respects & prayers to Swargeeya Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Garu at home. This is to prevent the gathering of crowds which is against govt Covid19 lockdown norms.”
It can be recollected that last year on the same day, Jr NTR was evidently infuriated at the officials for their irresponsible behaviour of NTR Ghat & government officials for paying zero interest in decorating the Ghat. He then announced that from there on he would take up the responsibility every year.
