Siddipet Collector P Venkatrami Reddy, a 2007 batch IAS officer on Monday officially joined the ruling TRS party on Tuesday hours after tendering his resignation opting for voluntary retirement. TRS supremo KCR welcomed the former bureaucrat into the party officially.
Reddy, the native of Odlea in the Peddapalli district, handed over his resignation to Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar at the latter’s chambers in the Secretariat at BRK Bhavan on Monday. The bureaucrat has one more year of tenure.
It can be recollected that Reddy touched the feet of Telangana Chief Minister KCR at an event where the latter inaugurated the newly built collectorate at Siddipet district headquarters which turned into a topic of discussion in state political circles.
The Collector, who has been posted in the erstwhile Medak district since Telangana was formed in 2014, had worked closely with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and Finance Minister T Harish Rao. He had also worked as Collector of Rajanna Sircilla district during the 2018 general elections.
