Telangana government is showing negligence towards farmers at every step. Even if ponds in the state are damaged or sluices are destroyed, and the government is not showing permanent solutions.
Ellamma pond canal in Husnabad in Siddipet district was flooded on Friday night and all water was wasted. Water was released from the sluice to the pond for Yasangi crop cultivation on Friday evening.
The sluice was damaged earlier, and the water now released added some extra flow pressure causing overflow through the canal. Farmers were alarmed by the influx of water into nearby fields. All the water flowed into brook over fields. Panicked crews came out fearing that there was a possibility of water entering a nearby power substation, causing havoc.
Scared farmers and locals approached municipal staff who came to know about it and blocked water flux by placing paddy fields at damaged sluices with a JCB’s help. The wrecked sluice is thought to have collapsed with the release of water at once without repair.
