It is true that bureaucrats play a crucial role in the state’s administration. Considered to be the driving force in the Chief Minister’s decisions, senior bureaucrats especially the special secretaries at times seems more involved in the schemes and new launches than the Chief Minister himself. But what if one of such bureaucrat turns as superior as the Chief Minister? What if his command becomes the ultimatum? What if the state almost runs on his fingertips?
Officials working close with the Chief Minister office in Andhra Pradesh can relate to the above questions and the only prominent figure that comes to their mind would obviously be Chief Minister Political Secretary Praveen Prakash. While the state administration was said to be sluggish and almost out of his hands, CM Jagan had reportedly brought Praveen Kumar from AP Bhavan in Delhi to have him as the Political Secretary(GAD) on special request. Right from the transfer of CS LV Subrahmanyam to the implementation of major schemes under Navaratnas, all the senior officials now claim that Praveen Prakash has his iron fist administration in all possible moves of the Chief Minister. Close sources revealed that if any official who crosses the order of Praveen Prakash will immediately get a call from CMO followed by a deputation. Some even sarcastically stated that Praveen is their Chief Minister. Be it a central government scheme or a scheme under Navaratna’s officials, all the departments are facing a tough job with the serious crunch in funds. Some of the officials even confronted that they are not even having guts to face their so-called Chief Minister, who has now become a tough nut to crack. A few of the political analysts opined that the state’s administration is now under serious threat and Chief Minster needs to face dire consequences if the ways are mended.
