It was back in May 2012 that the arrest of evangelist KA Paul, president and founder of Global Peace Initiative (GPI) set ripples in the state politics. Paul, who was in Ongole to inaugurate the office of his political outfit Praja Shanthi was taken into custody with accusations of conspiring to abduct and murder Paul’s associate Koteswara Rao who happed to be the main accused in the murder of Paul’s brother K David Raju. The case took the political hue with Paul was rumoured to be at loggerheads with the late chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajasekhara Reddy and his son-in-law brother Anil.
The evangelist was then taken on home arrest in connection with the murder case while the investigation was said to reveal different facts. In a recent revelation, police circle inspector I. Srinivasan Rao who detained Paul on 21st May 2012 came out stating that the latter has not committed any crime or offence to be arrested. Claiming the same the police officer who is now serving the State Test Force withdrew the case endorsing no objection for closing the case in the court of Additional Judicial Magistrate, Ongole.
Over the same, the Superintendent of Police, Ongole submitted a letter to the court stating that after the full investigation in the murder case of Paul revealed no evidence to prosecute the evangelist in the court of law and he recommended the case to be dropped.
