It has been more than a week and the questions regarding the Chief Minister KCR not welcoming the Prime Minister in Hyderabad are still being discussed amongst the political fraternity. Earlier, KCR was seen talking about meeting Modi in person and discussing the issues in the state. Some sources even stated that the CM was hurt for not having his name engraved on the plaque of the Ramanujacharya statue. Clearing the air, the sources close to the CMO reveal that it is not the health problem of KCR that stopped him from meeting PM.
At a press meet held on Sunday, KCR personally opened up about being absent at the PM’s welcoming venue. KCR said that two of his family members were infected with COVID, and since there will be a lot of people at the event, he didn’t want to cause any harm to other people and that is the reason behind not showing up. Adding to it, he also said, “I am an educated, and responsible man. However, I welcomed the president”. He further explained that he is aware of the protocols and respects them to the fullest.
But, opposition parties raised some sensible questions regarding these reasons. They questioned KCR’s sensibilities on attending the Yadadri event the very next day when he has two of his households infected with COVID. In some pictures, one can also see the CM roaming around the temple premises with no mask. More than tens of thousands of leaders, officials, and social distance were present at the event. Giving it back to the CM, the opposition leaders are questioning whether KCR is wise or educated in doing so.
Just 3 days following the Yadadri trip, KCR even went to Janagama, to participate in the Collectorate inauguration. At the venue, he is seen, stepping closer to people, shaking hands, and greeting them. He then had his mask on only after the police paid respects, but took it off soon. It seemed like the CM is quite irritated with keeping and taking it off all the time, at some point he took it off and is never seen on the mask again for the rest of the day. He is seen addressing the public and inaugurating the collectorate with no mask.
Opposition bashed the CM stating COVID reasons for not welcoming the PM but showing up at Janagama with no mask at all. They heavily criticized KCR for giving lectures about education and responsibilities, while not respecting any of them individually.
