Chennai: Hours after the Tamil Nadu government moved the Madras High Court seeking permission to erect banners for Modi-Xi Jinping meeting at Mahabalipuram, Kamal Haasan has taken to his official Twitter account to appeal the Prime Minister to take the initiatives to denounce the banner culture. Citing the young techie R Subashree’s death, the Makkal Needhi Maiam(MNM)’s founder requested Modi to put an end to the haphazard banner culture and it will reflect his concern towards the sentiments of Thamizhians.
Followed by the series of tragedies the Madras High Court has banned the erection of banners and hoardings. Chief Minister EK Palaniswami and Leader of Opposition MK Stalin too appealed to party cadre to not erect banners, cut-outs and hoardings. After all this, the Tamil Nadu government has approached the High Court which has triggered anger among activists. China President Xi Jinping will visit Mamallapuram in the second week of October for the second informal summit with PM Modi to work out a road map for the bilateral ties for the next five years.
