Amidst the Independence Day vibes across the country, India on Saturday recorded 65,002 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours while the third worst corona-hit India crossed the alarming 2.5 million cases-mark.
According to the recent health bulletin released by the Union Health Ministry, the total caseload of the country reached to 25,26,193.
Further, Indian stats registered 996 new causalities in the last 24 hours. With this, the total death toll mounted to 49,036 till date. The increase in the number of fatalities, however, came in contrary to the health ministry’s claims that the country is comparatively recording less fatality rate.
It can be noted that there are 6,68,220 active cases while 18,08,937 patients were cured/discharged/migrated. The country has the third-highest cases in the world after the US and Brazil. On the positive side, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands over 70 per cent.
Meanwhile, Covid-19 tally in Andhra Pradesh rose to 2,73,085 after 8,943 infections were reported on Friday. With the discharge of 9,779 patients in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries has reached 1,80,703.
Telangana reported 1,921 new infections in the last 24 hours, taking the tally of positive cases in the state to 88,396. The death toll rose to 674 with nine more fatalities.
