Overtaking Brazil as the country with the second-highest recorded cases, India on Monday recorded over 90,000 cases for the second consecutive day. According to the latest reports from the union health ministry, the total caseload of the country is now at 42,04,614 with 90,802 new positive cases in the last 24 hours.
On the other hand, India recorded 1,016 deaths from Sunday morning taking the total death toll to 71,642 till date. Official data confirms that of the total cases registered so far, 32,50,429 cured/discharged/migrated while over 8,82,542 people under treatment.
A total of 4,95,51,507 samples were tested for corona till date while 7,20,362 samples were tested on September 6th alone. While the recovery rate stands at 77.3 per cent, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu continued to report the highest number of cases.

Meanwhile, Telangana with 1,802 fresh cases reported on Monday, the caseload at 1,42,771. 9 fresh deaths were logged taking the death toll in the state to 895. Andhra Pradesh on Sunday reported 10,794 fresh cases taking the state’s tally to 4.98 lakh. The number of active cases now stood at 99,689.
