While the Union Health Ministry claims that the situations are under control while coronavirus case fatality rate due to the infection has dropped to 1.62 per cent, Indian on Saturday crossed the 85,000-mark.
According to the latest reports from the union health ministry, Indian states and union territories logged 1,247 deaths in the past 24 hours taking the total death toll to 85,619.
Statistics reveal that this has been the third-highest single-day count so far. India’s coronavirus case tally crossed the 53-lakh mark on Saturday with a spike of 93,337 new cases.
The total case tally stands at 53,08,015 including 10,13,964 active cases, 42,08,432 cured/discharged/migrated and 85,619 deaths, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare said in Friday bulletin.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh which is now the second worst-hit state in the country has been recording a continuous dip in corona cases, while 8,096 new infections and 67 fatalities were registered by Friday evening. While the aggregate cases rose to 6,09,558, recoveries increased to 5,19,891, leaving 84,423 active cases after 5,244 mortalities, the latest bulletin said.
Telangana recorded 2,123 cases of COVID-19 as on Friday. With which the active cases in the state reach 30,636 cases. The state’s overall tally on the infections has hit 169,169 cases.
