With the sudden flood at the Krishna river in Nandigama district, over a hundred lorries used for sand mining were stuck in the water. The incident took place in Chivitikallu, Nandigama constituency on Saturday. Upon information, police and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot for the reuse operation.
More than 130 lorries are reported to have been stranded in the floodwaters. Drivers, cleaners, and porters are currently being evacuated by boat while the water level continued to rise. Further complicating the rescue operation, the road leading into the sand reach was washed away by the floodwaters.
Tensions ran high in Chivitikallu whether the lorries will be washed away by the floodwaters.
