Amid the second wave tremors across the country, India on Thursday recorded nearly one lakh cases yet again pushing the total caseload past 5.1 million-mark. According to the latest reports from the union health ministry, Indian states and union territories logged 97,894 new cases in the last 24 hours.
The total caseload of the country is now at 51,18,254 while the number of active cases crossed the million mark and currently stand at 10,09,976 and 40,25,079 patients have been discharged from hospitals. On the other hand, India recorded 1,132 deaths from Tuesday morning taking the total death toll to 83,198.

The recovery rate has further improved to 78.53 per cent while nearly 59 per cent of the new recoveries came from five states Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. 6,05,65,728 samples tested up to 15th September for Covid-19, of these, 11,36,613 samples tested yesterday, says ICMR
Meanwhile, in Telangana, 9 deaths & 2,159 new Covid-19 cases recorded on Thursday. A total number of cases mounts to 1,65,003 of which 30,443 are active. 2,108 discharged & 53,094 samples tested on Wednesday. AP, on the other hand, reported 8,835fresh cases on Wednesday. The state’s COVID-19 table now showed a total of 5,92,760 positive cases, 4,97,376 recoveries, and 5,105 deaths.
