The TRS members on Friday disrupted Parliament proceedings for the fourth day in a row, trooping into the podium in the Lok Sabha as also the Rajya Sabha demanding paddy procurement from Telangana in Rabi season and legislation on MSP (minimum support price) for all agriculture crops.
In today’s sessions heated argument took place between the TRS and BJP leader as TRS MP Keshavarao demanded that the Center to clarify the purchase rate for boiled rice which was answered by Union Minister Piyush Goyal. The minister then urged the TRS leaders to not politicise the issue.
Responding to which, KK said that 94 lakh metric tonnes of grain was procured last year and only 19 lakh metric tonnes has been procured so far this year. He then demanded the centre to issue an official clarification. Piyush then took the lead expressing discontent over the Telangana government changing its statement. He alleged that Telangana was not managing the accounts related to rice properly.

MP Suresh Reddy responded to Piyush’s remarks. He clarified that only boiled rice is harvested in Yasangi and that TRS leaders have been protesting over the same which is ignored by centre. The Rajya Sabha too was adjourned twice on Wednesday with TRS members along with other MPs storming into the well of the House raising slogans and showing placards demanding that the Centre come up with a national policy on food grains procurement.
