With the Income Tax Department’s deadline to link PAN (Permanent Account Number) with Aadhaar expiring on March 31st i.e, today, Indian citizen across India rushed to the Income Tax website which resulted in a website crash from the morning hours itself.
The sudden crash due to the unexpected traffic left the users confused as the PAN will become inactive and may be fined Rs 1,000. This rule has come into existence after a new section has been inserted in the Finance Bill.
Frustrated users took to social media channels to vent out their anger while hashtags #PANCard #IncomeTax trended on micro-blogging site Twitter. A few raised requests to the Income Tax department to either extend the date or restore the website.
