While the drug rampage is ruining lives, online games and betting are further leading the lives of youth into darkness. Though the state police claim to amplify the searches and have been nabbing drug dealers and distributors, reports have it that there are hundreds of black sheep under the department’s nose.
Going by the present scenario, the betting mafia turned more dangerous than drug addiction. In a shock to the police, the majority of the arrested are youth who have been luring the teenagers with money and then encourage betting by lending money. Being trapped, the teenagers are forced to continue betting lending from the bookies will then receive a slew of calls claiming to be from call centers.
Whether it is betting or an online game, all you have to do is download an app first. The bookies then start sending notifications to the youth through convenient apps to bet with starting amount of Rs 100. The apps will then offer you to join friends and family with personalized handsome commissions.
An engineering student living in Ghatkesar left for Hyderabad to his college from Warangal. However, the boy did not reach the hostel. With his mobile phone switched off, the parents approached the police who carried the search operation for three days. The boy was found in Warangal in a very devastating condition. He reportedly committed suicide and was taken to a nearby hospital where he confronted his addition to bettongs and that he already has Rs 4 lakh credit for Rs 10 interest.
He also said that he took the credit as he was being forced to pay interest on a monthly basis which he again took from his friends. As the parents gave him three lakhs of the money by selling properties, he again invested them in bettings. The family ultimately paid Rs 6 lakhs only as interest out of life threats from the mafia.
In yet another story under SR Nagar police station, an inter-student was addicted to online rummy and the other betting games. While the widowed mother thought that her son is attending online classes, the student slowly got addicted to betting games and borrowed Rs 3 lakhs from friends. As the pressure mounted to repay he committed suicide by hanging himself.
Online games and betting, which started for time pass are taking a toll on students’ lives. With the government having no restrictions on the betting apps, the illegal betting mafia is expanding their business with no limits. Cyberabad police have arrested three constables in Goa for allegedly backing the betting mafia raising speculation over biggies behind the betting kingdom.
