The audio clip of final moments from the Pakistan International Airlines(PIA) plane which crashed while making an attempt to land in Karachi is moving all hearts. The conversation between one of the pilots of the plight which had 100 passengers & crew and the Air Traffic Controller(ATC) has been recorded on a flight-tracking website.
In the audio clip posted by liveatc.net, a well-known website used by aviation watchers worldwide have the pilot of flight PK 8303 saying he has lost both engines and then “Mayday, Mayday, Mayday,” the final distress message. The audio clip of the air traffic control’s conversation with the pilot gives a glimpse of the terrifying last 50 seconds in the cockpit before the plane crashed.
The conversation went as below,
Pilot: PK 8303 [to] Approach
ATC: Ji Sir
Pilot: We are to be turning left?
Pilot: We are proceeding direct, we have lost both the engines.
ATC: Confirm you are carrying out a belly landing?
ATC: Runway available to land on 2 5
Pilot: Sir, Mayday, Mayday, Mayday, Pakistan 8303
ATC: Pakistan 8303, Roger Sir. Both runways are available to land.
And the audio cuts off.
Moments later, the PIA plane crashed into a residential area of Karachi on Friday, said the officials.
Pakistan International Airlines CEO Air Vice Marshal Arshad Malik said in a video message. He then assured of further investigation into the unfortunate accident which claimed almost 100 languages.
