State Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar retirement assumed significance amidst the political battle with the Jagan-led state government. While the tenure of the former bureaucrat came to an end on March 31st, he called for an informal meet with the press in which he spoke about his experiences.
When asked if he would join politics after his retirement, Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar has made it clear that he will not commit that mistake. It can be noted that speculation went rife over his political debut after a video clip of his meeting with the BJP leaders at a prominent hotel in Hyderabad in June 2020 went viral.
As everyone anticipated that he would lash out on the government, surprising everyone Nimmagadda thanked government, CS and DGP for their valuable support in conducting the local body elections successfully. Stating that he is now a normal citizen, the 65-year-old bureaucrat opined that he will go to the High Court if necessary for the right to vote in his native village.
