Hyderabad: Besides bringing the city to halt, the recent torrential rains in Hyderabad has also taken a toll on the Moti Darwaza, a portion of Golkonda Fort. The 500-year-old gateway which was in a rundown condition from last several years has collapsed early on Friday morning. The locals informed that this has happened in the early hours as they heard a loud sound after which they have discovered that the roof and the rear wall had collapsed. Officials of Archaeological Survey of India(ASI) who made a visit to the site has stated that the structure was built with red sandstone blocks which got weak over a period of time. Musharaff Ali Farooqui, Additional Commissioner at GHMC said that they would take immediate measures to restore the structure measuring 11.3 meters by 5.6 meters. No one has been injured in the incident.
