Pragati Bhavan- that is Mahal. The residence of KCR Maharaja, who conquered Telangana. If you want to see him from there, it happens only once in a lifetime during the new moon and full moon. For a common man, it would be a mistake to even think of such. In the ministry, in the MLA, those who want it will be given that vision.
Going inside the Pragati Bhavan Gate is like waging war. That is why it does not seem as if the tallest gates and fences have been erected. If at all ordinary people try to cry out their problems at the Bhavan, Policemen will make sure that all the crowd will be taken into custody. At least the freedom to hold a placard is not within those limits.
We are looking at the situation of teachers in recent times. As soon as the teachers approach Pragati Bhavan’s Gate, police respond. Arrests are being made in advance. Not just for the common man, there was a time when many VIPs used to have random discussions with the fellow members in front of the gate, but, now, the gates aren’t opening for anyone. In recent years, many of their own party leaders waited in front of the gate for hours. Some even went back in frustration.
Former minister JC Divakar Reddy recently tried to enter Pragati Bhavan. However, he was also stopped by the police. He was told that he wouldn’t be allowed inside without an appointment. JC started arguing that he had come to meet the CM and that he would at least meet KTR. The police objected to him, took into their cars, dropped him at a place where JC can travel home in his personal car.
In fact, what JC is wrong, expecting a meeting without taking an appointment. Moreover, why KCR is not giving appointments to teachers. Not just teachers .. Field assistants, nurses, victims of land grabs .. Many of these people have carried out many protest activities in front of Pragati Bhavan in the last few years. Did KCR give an appointment to any of them? Ever wanted to know their pain? That is, there is no peace. Arrests are made when common people approach him. Political analysts warn that if this continues, KCR will learn a lesson in the coming days.
