Hours after the death toll reached to four with a recent casualty registered in Punjab, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation Thursday over the viral outbreak. Urging all the citizen to restrain from getting into crowd, the Prime Minister in his video message called for a self-imposed curfew on the coming Sunday i.e, March 22nd.

The BJP supremo referred to it as a ‘Janata Curfew’ appealing the citizens to all Indians to stay indoors except for the essential services. Paralleling the outbreak with World War I and II over the number of countries affected, Modi assured that the Indian government is all set to combat the novel virus but needs the help of each and every citizen.
he Prime Minister emphasised on actively engaging with individuals, local communities and organisations in chalking out mechanisms to fight the pandemic. He also urged officials and technical experts to deliberate on the steps to be taken next. The PM also announced the formation of a COVID-19 Economic Response Task Force led by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to deal with economic challenges emerging out of the outbreak.
Besides social distancing, Modi urged the citizen to avoid panic buying and assured that the government has taken measures to ensure that the supply of all essential commodities. He also urged the citizens to avoid going to hospitals for routine checkups so that it wouldn’t be an extra burden for the hospitals.
