In his second address over the COVID-19 outbreak in the nation which has been taking a toll at the health scenario in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced a nationwide lockdown. Aa a part of the 21-day strategy to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus, the Prime Minister urged the nation to stay home for the next 21-days in the wake of the nation registering 536 positive cases.
“From midnight, entire India will go under lockdown. This is like a curfew…this is more advanced than Janta Curfew…it is stricter than Janta Curfew,” stated the PM. Claiming that the coming 21 days are very important to break the coronavirus infection cycle, Modi urged the citizen to sacrifice their social life for the next few days. “Draw a Laxman Rekha outside your door and remember that even step outside of it will bring Coronavirus into your house,” he added.
It was also announced that the central government has allotted Rs 15,000 Crore to develop the country’s healthcare and make it efficient enough to deal with the menace of coronavirus. The money will be used to develop testing facilities, PPEs, ICUs, Ventilators and on-training medical workers. PM Modi reiterated that all the state governments are instructed to take all necessary measures to restrain the public from coming out.
