While the nation awaited Prime Minister’s address to the nation expecting a clarity over the lockdown relaxation, Narendra Modi announces Rs 20 lakh crore economy package on Tuesday. Stating that the package which is 10 per cent of India’s GDP would come to the rescue of plummeting nation’s economy amidst the unprecedented Corona crisis.
Claimed to directly touch the lives of 42 lakh labourers, farmers, honest taxpayers, MSMEs and cottage industry, PM Modi stated that it is a move to play an important role in the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’. “Medicines supplied by India have infused new hopes in the world which is fighting the battle of life and death. With these steps, when India is being praised everywhere in the world, every Indian feels proud,” said Modi.
The Prime Minister also referred to the PPE crunch and stated that the country is now manufacturing 2 lakh each of PPEs and N-95 mask. Followed by a six-hour-long video conference meeting with Chief Ministers, Modi announced that Lockdown 4 after May 17, which would be completely different, with new rules.
“It will be based on suggestions by the state. Details will be informed by May 18 after suggestions from the state. We will fight and move forward by following rules. Our responsibility to make India a self-reliant India will be powered by the energy of the 1.3 billion population,” he averred.
