After his recent statement that his government would avenge the destruction of public assets by seizing and auctioning the personal property, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has not only triggered more violence in the state but has also welcomed rife criticism. Addressing the same, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi lashed out on Adityanath over his revenge statement against the anti-CAA protestors. Addressing the media at Lucknow, the young leader remarked that the UP Chief Minister should follow harmonious Hindutva in the line of the Bhagwa(saffron robes) he wears.
“Bhagva is not yours, it is the symbol of the Hindu religion. The colour of your attire was a symbol of Hindu dharma that had no place for revenge, violence or enmity,” said Priyanka referring to his vengeance statement. She also stated that they have written to Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel seeking a judicial enquiry over Uttar Pradesh Polices’ ruthless conduct against the anti-CAA protestors. Stating that Bijnor’s family was threatened by the state police, Priyanka averred that Congress party will also go to High Court over the unjust actions of the department and the state government.
