Hindupur: A video showing a mob of protestor raising slogans against Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna found its way into the public sphere on Friday. The protestors were seen shouting “MLA down down, Nandamuri Balakrishna down down” in the video. Reportedly, the actor-turned-politician’s convoy was blocked by Galibipalli villagers on Lepakshi-Hindupur road when Bala Krishna was passing by the constituency. The protestors demanded the completion of a road to their village which was inaugurated by Balakrishna a few months ago. The villagers including the school kids made sit-in protest on the road blocking Ballayya’s convoy.
While Bala Krishna and his team tried to convince the locals, they have given a hard time for the MLA for a while. The convoy was allowed to move ahead after Balakrishna promised the protestors to look into the matter and ensure that the road would be completed soon.
The works of the road connecting Galibipalli village to the Lepakshi-Hindupur main road were called off after the Model Code of Conduct came into place before the elections. CJ Balaram, Lepakshi Mandal Revenue Officer stated that the government has sanctioned Rs. 2 crores out of the announced Rs 27 crores but was halted before elections.
