Known to be one of the firebrand IPS officials the state has seen, senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and former director of Telangana State Police Academy, V.K. Singh now grabbed a respectable position in Punjab bureau team.
The respectable police head who recently put down the papers requesting the Union Ministry of Home to relieve him from the responsibilities has been offered the post of government advisor on prison reform by the Punjab government. It can be noted that VK Singh was invited by the Punjab government a couple of modernisation and security of prisons in Punjab.
However, responding to the offer, VK Singh stated that though he is more than privileged to work for Punjab he doesn’t want to be a full-time advisor. “I intend to refuse any monthly salary,” he added. While the Punjab government is yet to prepare the draft of terms and conditions, it was learnt that the pandemic came as the hurdle for the due procedures.
It can be noted that the IPS who rendered services for Telangana government for about 33 years had offered to resign from the service citing humiliation and neglect. The Additional DG rank officer, awaiting his superannuation in November, has been in line for promotion to DG rank for the last two years.
