Sources have it that TRS president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is contemplating on offering the academician the chairperson of Telangana Legislative Council post.
While the present chairman of Legislative Council Gutha Sukender Reddy and deputy chairman Nethi Vidyasagar’s term will end in June 2021, the ruling high command is now busy finalising the list of potential candidates for the posts.
Vani Devi is a newcomer to the political landscape, and the decision to give her a seat had earlier raised eyebrows from both the ruling and opposition parties. She also received the international’s women’s achievement award in 2016 by the Telangana government and the talent award by Potti Sriramulu Telugu University in 2012.
