Senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath have announced that their leader Rahul Gandhi will contest as the opposition prime ministerial candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Referring to Rahul’s Bharat Jodo Padayatra, he said, “Rahul is not doing politics for power, he is doing it for the common people of this country and his goal is the unity of the country. Kamal Nath revealed in an e-mail interview with a news agency that as far as the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are concerned, Rahul is not only the leader of the opposition but also the prime ministerial candidate.
He said that no leader in the history of the world had made such a long journey and no other family had made so many sacrifices for the country except the Gandhi family. He said that Rahul’s politics are not marching for power but for the people of this country who can put anyone on the throne.
Analysts believe that Kamal Nath alone is proposing that Rahul contest as the opposition prime ministerial candidate in the 2024 elections. Kamal Nath commented that those who betrayed the organization have no place in the party. When asked if there are any chances of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia rejoining the Congress in the future, he said, “I will not mention any person, but those who betrayed the party and broke the trust of the workers have no place in the party.”
Kamal Nath said that if Congress comes to power again in Madhya Pradesh, they will restore the old pension system. He said that there will be organizational changes in the Congress party before the assembly elections. Madhya Pradesh assembly elections will be held next year.
