Rahul Gandhi’s potshots at Modi-led government ended up with uproar from the leaders of BJP from across the country. Referring to the crimes against women in the country, the young politician on Thursday stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched ‘Make in India’ but now it has become ‘Rape in India’. Though the comments received support from the oppositions who came to the rescue of Rahul, this stirred up a heated debate in the parliamentary session on Friday.
However, addressing the media post the session, Rahul refused to apologise over his “rape in India” remarks saying this was merely an excuse for the BJP government to divert attention from the blazing violence due to the Citizenship Act. Rahul also hit back to the times to when Modi stated Delhi to be the rape capital. “If Modi ji refused to apologise for his comments he once made on Delhi, why should I? BJP cadre is trying to deflect attention from the unrest in the Northeast,” he said. Taking to his official Twitter handle, Rahul posted the video of Modi in defence with his comments made. In no time, hashtag #RapeInIndia started tending on the various social media platforms.
