Touted to be Thalaiva Rajinikanth’s 168th film, ‘Annaatthe’ helmed by Siva directorial racked up a lot of buzz last year. Stars like Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh and Prakash Raaj as well joined the shoot in a huge set in Ramoji Film City in December. While the unit planned for a Diwali 2020 release, the unexpected lockdown came as a jolt to team ‘Annaatthe’ which stopped the shoot in February.
However, things slowly opening up, the team was gearing up to resume shoot from October 23rd in Hyderabad. A team in RFC started resurrecting the set adhering to the social distancing norms. But the 40-day schedule was reportedly called off with raising concerns over Rajini’s age.
It was learnt the big-budgeted film involves at least 200 members on set every day which increases the risks for the 69-year-old actor in the wake of increasing cases in Telangana. “The South film industry is still shocked by the untimely demise of singer SP Balasubrahmanyam and don’t want to risk the life of any actor who’s in the vulnerable age bracket,” said one of the assistant directors.
Directed by Siva, Imman is composing the music for the film. Now, sources also say that the film will not hit the screens for Pongal 2021. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film also has an ensemble of actors including Meena, Khushbu, Soori, and Sathish portraying main characters.
