KS Jawahar Reddy appointed as the new Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam(TTD). This expected move from the Jagan-led state government reaffirmed the caste lines in bureaucrats and officials positions.
The decision drew wrath as the post is touted to be be given to only senior-most IAS officers while Dharma Reddy an Indian defence estate services officer who was brought to AP on deputation.
Despite the former EO Anil Kumar Singhal housing various controversies, Jawahar Reddy’s appointment triggered debates with the two other top positions held by Reddy community. The trust already has YV Subbareddy as the Chairman and Dharmareddy as the additional EO.
Further, the malicious record of Jawahar Reddy regarding the Sugali Preeti’s death case was brought back into recent debates. In the sensational Sugali Preeti case where a 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped and hanged to death, Jawahar Reddy the then CS was accused of supporting the accused.
The rape victim’s parent also alleged that the then CS for accepting favours for sidetracking the case when it came into the hands of state health ministry back in 2017.
Apart from which, Jawahar Reddy is also into a controversial G.O. which was passed hours before he assumed office at TTD. Assigning posts to the professors who are allegations in the suspicious death of Kurnool medical student Shilpa, Jawahar Reddy welcomed criticism.
Security for women has been one of the main agendas of the Jagan government ever since he assumed office. However, designation crucial positions to officials who are alleged to help the accused in rape and murder cases of innocent girls seem to take the young CM’s agenda to different track hinting caste lines.
Amidst which, many political analysts speculated that the long-pending controversial cases at TTD property auctions and bank deposits will soon be detangled on fast-track with Jawahar-mark.
