Right when the country has begun the second phase of the vaccination drive for everyone above 60 years of age and those over 45 years with comorbidities will be able to get the vaccine, Nita M Ambani, philanthropist, chairperson and founder of the Reliance Foundation took a decision which has set a new standards for the leading companies.
In an email to the employees across the country, Nita on Friday announced that Reliance Industries would bear the full cost of the vaccination for the employee, spouse, parents and children. The non-executive director of Reliance Industries, in her mail urged the employees to register for the government of India’s Covid-19 vaccination program.
“Cherishing the health and happiness of our family is what it means to be part of a family, the Reliance family,” read the mail. It can be noted that the company, earlier, in the Reliance Family Day 2020 message, chairman & MD Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani assured that they would bear all the costs for employees as soon as any approved vaccine is available in India.
The total employee strength of Reliance Industries, on the roll and off the roll, is about 6 lakh. The number is nearly 1.9 million when their family members are included.
