While on a macro level, KCR’s war against the center is still going on, his battle against the center regarding grain purchases seems to be over. Earlier KCR confirmed that it is not possible to give boiled rice to the center from the state’s side, KCR also made all the agreements to give only raw rice. Following all that, he went on to do protests against the center urging them to buy any grain from Telangana farmers. Now, after this confusion, he finally put a full stop to the issue by declaring that the state government will buy all the grains from the farmers of the state. KCR, who told this to the media after the three-hour cabinet meeting in which he slammed the Center while reassuring the farmers about grain procurement.
To these unexpected announcements from KCR, TPCC chief Revanth Reddy gave a firm response. He said that Congress would continue to fight on behalf of the farmers. He declared that this decision taken by KCR is the result of the sabha held by Rahul Gandhi in Telangana state to discuss the farmers’ issues. However, Revanth further added that he will not trust KCR and will keep an eye on the whole procurement process until the very last grain is bought by the government, as KCR just declared.
In fact, if we take a look at the way KCR implemented his plans or fulfilled his promises, one could say that Revanth’s remarks make sense. Even after making so many promises in public meetings and even in the assembly, KCR barely managed to do anything that helped the state. From promising a Dalit CM to the Dalit Bandhu, many assurances have been given by KCR of which almost everything is restricted to just words.
His recent announcement about jobs is simple proof of that. When he announced 88,000 jobs, he promised quicker notifications and exams. But, it has been more than a month since that, and nothing came out till now. Revanth said that the same might be done in the case of grain. Considering KCR’s previous promises, Revanth’s opinion on keeping track of the grain purchases is valid.
