Forty-one days of indefinite strike and with no signs of ending it on a peaceful note, the RTC JAC seems to soften its stand against the government. Announcing that the unions decided to drop down the merger demand, JAC convenor Ashwathama Reddy stated that they are ready to hold talks with the government on other demands. After a long meeting with the other union and opposition leaders, JAC convenor said that the decision was taken for the welfare of the employees who are already in neck-deep troubles. “A series of suicides of the employees moved us to take this decision. This is a collective decision so that the government offers to hold talks at least now,” he added. This decision came hours after government disagreed with the panel suggestion made by the High Court. On this note, the JAC Convenor demanded the release of the arrested leaders and to release ex-gratia for the employees who took their lives during the strike.
