With the crowdfunding campaign taken up by the Shri Ram Janambhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust for the construction of Ayodhya’s Ram temple coming to an end, the authorities on Tuesday revealed the total amount collected ever since the campaign kicked off on January 15.
Touted to be one of the largest door-to-door campaigns ever witnessed in the country, the authorities associated with the drive said nearly Rs 2,000 crore have been collected from across the country. However, the substantial sum of money is yet to be processed and deposited in bank accounts, following which the amount will increase significantly.
“The fund-raising campaign has ended with generous contributions from all cross-sections of the people, including residents of far-flung villages of India, blurring religious barriers. Total donations received has crossed Rs 2,100 crore by Saturday evening,” said Trust’s treasurer, Govind Dev Giri speaking to the press.
For 45 days, the teams made up of VHP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) members embarked on an ambitious drive going door-to-door of over 13 crore homes. While the trust estimated to raise Rs 1,100 crore, the huge participation of citizen has helped to achieve 100% more funds in less time.
After the success of the drive and with the requests from Ram Bhakts living abroad to launch a global drive for collecting donations, the trust is planning to launch a world-wide drive to collect donations from Ram Bhakts across the globe.
“Members will discuss modalities of how to launch the Samarpan Nidhi Abhiyan globally keeping in mind RBI, Finance Ministry, Income Tax regulations and clearances,” said Giri.
