Are high budget films being over-exposed?
With big-budget movies like ‘Sahoo’ and ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ queued up, fans and audiences around the world are all pumped. Producers who poured in whopping amounts into the respective projects are now equally investing in the promotional activities. Gone are the days when actors just complete the film and holiday. They are taking equal responsibility in the movie promotions making space out of their busy call sheets for taking the movie into the public.
Prabhas who is usually an introvert has broken the ceiling with his interviews and public appearances as a part of ‘Sahoo’ promotions. He even joined the social media family to share the updates. He’s been to all the TV shows and touring cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore. Megastar Chiranjeevi also started campaigning for ’Sye Raa’ along with Producer Ram Charan. The unit has roped in Pawan Kalyan to give voice-over for the teaser that created quite a buzz.
Between the title announcement and the movie release, producers are now exploring ways to create hype for the movie. First look, the release of individual lyrical videos, revealing the characters….and then comes, a series of teasers and trailers. While the hardcore fans are enjoying this, few of the movie lovers and critics have another perspective.
Speculations racked up that this scenario is fizzling out the enthusiasm around the movie and is overexposing it. Referring to ‘Sahoo’, after the censor certificate came out, the talk broke out that the second half is a bit disappointing. A pall of gloom descended amongst movie enthusiasts who later felt that aggressive movie promotion is to cover up this glitch. To conclude, the critics feel that either the approach of movie promotions should change or the fans’ attitude towards the movies.
