Drug scandal in the Indian film industry which crept from Bollywood to Sandalwood after the death of actor Sushant has been taking interesting turns. In a recent revelation, sleuths of Central Crime Branch (CCB) conducted flash raids at Kannada actor Sanjana Galrani’s residence in Indira Nagar.
The actress is quite familiar with the Telugu audience with Prabhas’ movie ‘Bujjigadu’. The raids came in the wake of arresting actress Ragini Dwivedi after raids in her residence for allegedly supplying drugs to industry biggies. Besides Ragini, two more accused have been arrested including Niyaz Ahamed, a Kerala-based drug supplier.
“After obtaining a warrant from a court, a search is being conducted at Sanjana Gulrani’s house for her alleged role in a drug case,” read the official statement issued by Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) Sandeep Patil after the raids.
While rumour floated that CCB would soon take Sanjana into custody for further investigation, the actress claiming she is innocent and that vested interests are behind the tip-off and raids.
It all started with NCB raids in Navi Mumbai on August 20 while the officials seized over 3000 MDMA pills. The officials were learnt to unearth the connections with three-drug peddlers in Bengaluru.
After a thorough investigation in Karnataka, the NCB had said that actors and musicians from Karnataka were under its scanner in connection with the racket that was busted.
